Zion National Park is one of the flagship parks of the west receiving more
than 6 million visitors a year. Yet, with all its popularity, there is still
solace and silence to be found in the canyons and forests of the backcountry.
Project participants will have an opportunity to explore and experience these
two important facets of the park, the border community, lodge, visitors center,
and shuttle buses, as well as the trails, streams, and canyons of its wilderness.
University faculty and ZNP rangers will share their experience and expertise
in seminars that will include geology, plant succession, visitor planning
and management, endangered species, cultural history, and photography.
