The summitless desert night sky:
A vast cobalt dining table,
Cleared from supper,
Waiting for dessert.
Rare, pale, wispy clouds
Wrinkle the table cloth.
Napkins crinkled on the edge
Are mountain and mesa silhouettes.
Sugar stars and city lights
Crystal as they spill.
Down the middle of the table
Slides a vanilla pie.
Everyone is served
A sight of the silent ivory moon.
