a
football
game day. . .beginning
the smell of a rainy Autumn morning
the halls of school in a blurred television
butterflies and game plays swarming around
bright red leaves seen through the swirling fog cloud
rain coming down in sheets, muddying the massive field
the sunset that looks like a painted picture as the sky clears
heart beats pounding like a drum. . .thump. . .thump. . .thump
the world moving in fast forward, then slowing to a crawl
the bright lights hiding the faceless crowd to the field
kickoff time sending the senses into a haziness
rush of adrenaline racing through the veins
the graceful movements of the snap
 silence inside the helmet
a touchdown for
the win
the roar of the applause echoing in the stadium
the relief settling in the butterflies scattering
the bright stars twinkling overhead on a cool Autumn night
game day. . .over
