Services Available: for Writing Assistants
Requirements for Employment in the Writing Center
The Writing Center hires writing assistants (who tutor in the center) and basic writing tutors (who work to facilitate student groups in ENGL 1000) every spring. We do occasionally need to hire an additional assistant during the school year.
Our Requirements include the following:
- English major with 3.5 GPA in English and 3.0 overall GPA
- Demonstrated academic writing ability
- Commitment to teaching and ability to communicate with writers of all levels
- Demonstrated editing skills
- Collegiality
We prefer applicants:
- Who have completed ENGL 2300 and 2900 with a grade of B+ or higher
- Who are certifying in secondary education
- Who are members of Sigma Tau Delta or other campus organizatiosn devoted to academic excellence
