Practicums, internships and externships provide students with the opportunity to earn academic credit while learning professional skills "out in the field". For a more complete description of opportunities come to the psychology department office in GC308.
Turn-About Ranch offers a behavior modification program for troubled teens in the context of a full functioning ranch in Escalante, Utah. It is a "high-impact, Christian based, non-denominational program, designed to remold the values and turn-around the lives of confused, rebellious teenagers. Set in a real life, working Western ranch, Turn-About concentrates on developing honesty, self-respect, responsibility and a strong work ethic."
SUU students in this program receive the training and supervision needed to become counselors for the youth whom the program serves. They will also learn a great amount about ranching and the therapeutic effects that ranch life can have when used for that purpose. If interested, please see Dr. John Ault.
