Buy a New Computer
SUU students, faculty, and staff who plan to purchase a new computer for personal use are encouraged to purchase an SUU recommended computer. I have an older computer that does not meet the above requirements, should I purchase a new one?
If you feel that your computer is adequate for your needs, you probably don't need to purchase a new computer. SUU does not have any "required" software that you must install (though you may have to share files with fellow students who might be using a newer version of software than you, such as Microsoft Office 2007). Your education will be enriched through full access to the Internet, electronic research tools, and electronic communication, so make sure your older computer can connect to the Internet at a sufficiently high speed. If your present computer can accomplish those tasks, do not feel that you must upgrade to the above standards. SUU also provides students exclusive access to a computer lab.
