The Environment:

When you first enter FrontPage you will notice the main work area has two panels.

FrontPage Environment

  • The side panel is called "Views" and is mainly used for Site Management. Web Services has more efficient tools for these purposes, so you can basically disregard this panel.
  • The main working area is the area in which you will create your web page. On the bottom of this area there are three display options: "Normal", "HTML" and "Preview"
  • The Normal view is what you will see when you are editing your page.
  • The HTML view is used to see and/or alter the source code.
  • The Preview view shows you the basic way your page will look and behave once it is on the WWW. (Please keep in mind, this is not a replacement for testing your web page in a real web browser)
  • To use FrontPage you will also need to be familiar with the three main areas of the menu bars.
