Inserting Links:

- Highlight the text you want to be the link.
- Click on the Insert link icon on the toolbar.
- This will bring up the "Insert Hyperlink" dialog box.

FrontPage Insert Hyperlink

  1. Text to Display - This box should contain the text you highlighted previously. Quite simply, this is the text that will act as your link.
  2. Existing File or Web Page - This is the option you will use to link to another web page. You can then use the main area in the center to find the file you wish to link to. This is for linking to files within your own site.
  3. E-mail Address - Selecting this option is to insert an Email link. There is more detail below.
  4. Address - If you would like to link to another website, you can type the address in this field. Remember, you do have to use the "http://" before the address. You can also use this field if you know the name of the file you want to link within your own site. If you wanted to link to a file called "info.html", you would just type "info.html" into the field.

Email Links:

Insert Email link box

Inserting an Email link is slightly different than other links, but certainly not hard. You should start by selecting the text you want to be the link and clicking on the Insert Link icon on the toolbar. This should open the "Insert Hyperlink" dialog box, just like it explains above. But this time, instead of leaving it on the "Existing File or Web Page" option on the left, you'll select the last option - "E-mail Address". In this menu, it will still have the "Text to display" field at the top. But the options below that are the ones that change.

A. E-mail Address - This is where you type the email address you would like users to send mail to.

B. Subject - This form is not necessary, but if you would like to force a subject, that way you know the message came from someone using your website, you can type a subject in here.

C. Recently Used E-mail Address - This is a holding space for email addresses you've used recently. Instead of retyping them, you can just select one from this list and it will populate the E-mail Address and Subject fields with the information.
