Adding text to your page:
  • Using text in FrontPage seems much like using text in any word processor. However, there are a few differences that can confuse beginners and need to be kept in mind:
  • You cannot create indented paragraphs by using the tab key.
  • The program allows you to select from all the fonts you have on your computer, however, they may not display correctly on other computers without the font installed. A pretty safe font to use is Arial, as most people in the world have it installed and studies have shown it to be the best font for readability on the web.
  • These are the options that you can find on your text editors menu (Note: there may be a few more options if you have FrontPage 2002 installed.):
    FrontPage Text Editors
    1. Font Options - Pull down menu with many different options. The options that will be used most often from this menu is the different heading sizes. These will change the size of your font. Heading 1 is the largest, Heading 6 is the smallest, but these are only to be used for "headers" (The standard used at SUU is a Heading 2).
    2. Font select menu - remember that all computers may not have the same fonts installed, so the page will not look the same on other computers if you use different fonts. Arial is a pretty standard font.
    3. Change Font Size - This is the box that you will use to change font size on your page wherever the text isn't a heading (Size 2 is the standard at SUU for main body text).
    4. Font Attributes - Bold, Italic and Underline
    5. Font Alignment - Left Justified, Center or Right Justified (FrontPage 2002 adds a full justification to this area)
    6. Lists and Indent - Numbered List, Bulleted List, decrease indent, increase indent.
    7. Colors - First button is to highlight text and the arrow next to it is to change the highlight color. Second button is to change the font color.
