Deans' Council

Overview

The Deans' Council works alongside the Faculty Senate in recommending university policy issues relating to academics. Recommendations primarily go to the provost, who chairs the council. The Deans' Council works as the main representative body to the administration concerning issues relating to specific departments and colleges. The council coordinates and offer recommendations concerning every aspect of academic budgets, calendar items, class schedules, curriculum, and other matters relating to academics.

Background

The Deans' Council is made up of the deans from academic colleges and schools, the library dean, and the School of Continuing and Professional Studies dean. Non-voting members of the council include the associate provost, Faculty Senate president, applied technology director, assistant vice president of Student Services, the provost's administrative assistant who serves as council secretary, and the SUUSA academic vice president.

The Deans' Council meets at least once every two weeks and once a month during the summer. It also oversees the function of the Curriculum Planning Committee.
