SUU Staff Association

Overview

The SUU Staff Association is the organization of staff members on campus, excluding faculty and faculty supervisors. The Staff Association represents staff in working with the administration to promote staff involvement in professional experiences. It also represents the staff for relevant issues that may develop at the Board of Trustees, Board of Regents, or Utah Legislature.

Background

The Staff Association's formal constitution and bylaws were ratified on September 21, 1990 and most recently revised in May 2006. The Staff Association includes any staff member who is under contract and benefit-eligible, although staff members who are part of the President's Council are not allowed to hold office in the association.

The Executive Committee is the governing board and consists of the president, president-elect, secretary, treasurer, four directors, and the immediate past president. Each serve for one year, except in the case of directors, who serve for two years, and the president who serves three years concurrently, from president-elect to president to immediate past president.

The president, with the advice and approval of the Executive Committee, appoints members to the three standing committees: Professional Improvement, Salaries and Institution Governance, and Social Affairs. He or she also serves by virtue of the association president office on each of the committees. Decisions are made by the general body of the association, which includes all of its members. General meetings are held at least semi-annually.
