Southern Utah University’s Educational Talent Search Program (ETS) will host its second annual Freeze Your Buns 5K Fun Run for Scholarships next Saturday, January 15, in Kanarraville at 11 a.m.

A distinct racing opportunity during the southern Utah winters, the Freeze Your Buns Run has fast become a crowd favorite and includes a 5K race and one-mile walk against one of the region’s most beautiful backdrops.

All money raised from the race will benefit local high school seniors who participate in the Federal TRiO Program. These students will be granted scholarships to the college of their choice in the fall of 2011.

TRiO is an educational outreach program to assist students from disadvantaged backgrounds in their pursuit of a higher education. For just a few dollars and a bit of shivering, southern Utah race enthusiasts have the opportunity to change a life.

Race registration is available online through raceit.com, keyword ”Kanarraville”. You may also print and mail a hard-copy registration form through www.suu.edu/ss/talent.

Pre-registration for the 2011 Freeze Your Buns Run is $15 for the 5K and just $10 for the one-miler. An additional $5 charge for either entry fee will be added for those who wait to register the day of the race.

Additional information is also available by contacting Tami Shugart, SUU’s ETS director, at 435-559-4657 or freezeyourbunsrun@gmail.com.
