Orchesis - the Greek word for "Dance!"
Purpose
Orchesis seeks to provide a creative outlet for student choreography, provide SUU students with a greater opportunity for performance oportunities, and to promote dance on the SUU campus and in the surrounding community.
So What Do We Do?
Orchesis produces the Student Concert each fall semester. All choreography in the Student Concert is done by the students themselves. Orchesis organizes auditions at beginning of fall semester for the Student Concert.
Participation
The members of Orchesis usually perform a piece in the Student Concert. Orchesis members also participate in service projects and fund raising activities.
Benefits
Why participate? Involvement in Orchesis provides opportunities for recognition, inspiration, meeting new people and improving modern dance skills. Besides, it's fun.
Requirements
All members of Orchesis must be registered students of SUU having paid the activity fee prescribed by SUUSA.
Membership is by audition only, the determining factor being the ability to dance. Auditions will take place every fall semester within the first two weeks of school. Spring semester auditions will be offered when necessary determined by group consensus.
Attendance is mandatory. Members are expected to attend all schedule meetings, rehearsals and events. By auditioning, members have indicated a commitment to Orchesis, and as such should comply with the organization's policies. Professionalism is expected of all members.
The membership fee is $15.00.
