SUU Department of Music OPUS Chamber Choir
takes part in a
“Magical Musical Mystery Tour” of Nevada and California

(Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah) SUU Department of Music premiere choral ensemble, OPUS Chamber Choir performs “Magical Musical Mystery Tour:  from Mad to Mod” on tour in Nevada and California, Friday, March 14 – 19, 2008.

The SUU OPUS Chamber Choir is touring California and Nevada in order to acquaint high school students with vocal and other music programs at SUU. They will present a wide variety of music from madrigals to contemporary pieces including Brahms’ gypsy songs Vier Zigeunerlieder, a section from Ravel’s only a cappella piece, Nicolette from Trois Chansons, Moses Hogan’s stirring I'm Gonna Sing 'til the Spirit Moves in My Heart, as well as more traditional English madrigals. While on tour, OPUS will also to perform at area churches.

Southern Utah University OPUS Chamber Choir is a highly selective ensemble consisting of 20 men and women of the highest talent and ability. The vision of OPUS is excellence, artistry, and musicianship. Through programs like OPUS, the Department of Music at Southern Utah University is committed to creating professional musicians of the highest quality as well as qualified and talented music teachers for our schools.
