Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery

K-6 Tours

Teachers should register in pairs. One class will start at the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery while the other starts at the Garth & Jerri Frehner Museum of Natural History. They will switch after one hour and experience both aspects of the program.

Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery

Students will view the ABC: Assemblage, Book Arts, & Collage exhibition in the gallery and learn more about three focus pieces, one from each art medium. They will get to vote for their favorite piece in the exhibition and as a class will create a temporary collage using a variety of objects from vinyl records to plates.

Garth & Jerri Frehner Museum of Natural History

Students will view a working lysimeter (tool scientists use to help measure a plant ecosystem’s effectiveness) and learn about different types of green infrastructure, including green roofs, rain gutters, planters, etc. and how they benefit the earth and us. They will then work in groups to create their own green roof assemblage/diorama.
