CPVA Goals and Initiatives 2006-07
Continuing initiatives and activities
- Recruitment and retention programs in each department
- Marketing/PR and audience development
- Utilize effective curriculum development and enrollment management plans in each department
- Faculty development and enhancement
- Alumni relations and development plans
- Accreditation of all SUU arts departments in by fall 2008
- Complete NASM re-accrediting of Music by May 2007
- Host NASAD accrediting visit in November
- Site visit by NAST consultant (this April) to prepare for self study next year
- Enhance the education programs in the Braithwaite Gallery through grant funding
- Work with USF to assist in strategic planning, organizational development and audit
New initiatives
- Address issues, propose solutions, and explore opportunities that come from the college’s Program Review submitted last May – In process
- Request faculty lines and staffing to better support the college’s academic programs and operations by January. OUTCOME: Faculty line in photography funded from SB90. Other funds will be designated from SB90 toward salary supplements for new hires in Music and Theatre, as well as support for continuing professional and classified staff. Additional resources will be allocated to permanently create a music instrument replacement fund and to supplement the MFA Arts Administration Program’s academic activities.
- Engage CPVA Departments and College Curriculum Committees in a review of the Fine Arts GE classes offered to maximize resources and curricular effectiveness by December 2006 – Outcome: In process
- Request Theatre & Dance and College Curriculum Committees consider a proposal for Film Minor by April 2007 – OUTCOME: Discussions are underway with English, Communications, and Theatre Arts faculty.
- Complete a master facility plan for Auditorium building by December 2006 – OUTCOME: Plan completed. However, the plan is now under revision to integrate with new SUU fundraising initiatives proposed by President Benson.
- Develop concept plans for a new building for Art & Design department that incorporates the Braithwaite Gallery on the North Campus by May 2007 – OUTCOME: See item #5 above
- Develop concept plans for remodeling and addition to the Music building by May 2007 – OUTCOME: See item #5 above
- Solicit proposals from Art & Design and Theatre & Dance for who they’d like to see as our Eccles Visiting Artist/Scholar in 2007-08. – OUTCOME: Still in process
- Update and revise goals and objectives of college and departments in relation to SUU Strategic Plan by December 2006. - OUTCOME: Completed, plans submitted for posting on SUU website
- Participate in service learning and undergraduate research activities all year. Awaiting proposed activities from departments. OUTCOME: In process
- Work with the College of Education to implement new courses and activities related to the Sorenson Endowed Chair in Elementary Arts Education. OUTCOME: In process
