Ling Yu is currently an adjunct professor of viola at Southern Utah University, and is a member of the newly founded SUU Halversen String Quartet. She received her Master of Music degree in Voila Performance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City-Conservatory of Music, where she was the recipient of a Conservatory of Music Graduate String Quartet Fellowship. Ling has studied music performance at the University of Alabama and at West Virginia University. She was a member of WVU Graduate String Quartet and principal viola of WVU Symphony Orchestra. Ling began playing violin under her father’s guidance when she was six. Later she studied the violin and viola at the Wuhan Conservatory of Music, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance. Her teachers have included Dr. Steven Kruse, Professor Philip Tietze and Professor Mao Long Teng.
