2011 SUU Honor Band

The Southern Utah University Honor Band is open to select high school students from Utah and the surrounding states. The group is conducted by Dr. Doug Harris and Dr. Tom Herb, both faculty members at SUU. High school directors are asked to submit nominations and the band is selected based on a number of factors. In February, the selected students participate in two days of rehearsals, which culminate in a performance at the Heritage Center Theater in Cedar City. During their time at SUU, the students not only play but also get to hear the SUU Wind Ensemble and chamber ensembles perform for them. In addition, students spend time with SUU instrumental faculty members. Masterclasses are planned for music teachers who attend the two-day event.
