(Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah) The SUU Department of Art and Design announced the appointment of graphic designer Jeffrey Hanson to the faculty beginning in the fall semester of 2007. Mr. Hanson’s work is often a collaboration between business, information, technology, and the arts.
Eric Brown, Department of Art and Design chair says that the department is “…extremely pleased with the wide range of expertise that Mr. Hanson has. He will certainly compliment our offerings in interactive, motion, and web design as well as lending strength in the areas of typography and print design.” Dean Bill Byrnes of the College of Performing and Visual Arts adds, “The addition of Jeffrey Hanson to the faculty, as well as the recent NASAD accreditation and new degree programs point to an exciting future for the Department of Art and Design.”
Jeffrey Hanson completed his Master of Fine Arts at Indiana University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Utah State University, both in graphic design. He has taught at Indiana University and Bridgerland Applied Technology College. Of teaching, Mr. Hanson writes, “As an educator and mentor, my role is not only to help students to understand design theory but how all of their experiences whether in history, arts, or the sciences can contribute to their visual voice.”
Mr. Hanson has balanced his study and teaching with the practice of design by working as a design Fellow for the Indiana University Art Museum and as an interactive designer/developer for the IU Department of Education.
