SUU Department of Theatre Arts and Dance Announces New Faculty

For Immediate Release: August 9, 2007

(Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah)  The SUU Department of Theatre Arts and Dance announced the appointment of actor and director T. Anthony Marotta to the faculty beginning in the fall semester of 2007.  Mr. Marotta’s directing work focuses on the essence of storytelling and collaboration.

“As a seasoned member of the Actors Equity Association, Professor Marotta brings an impressive resume,” notes Shauna Mendini, Chair of the Department of Theatre Arts and Dance. “He has had the opportunity to work in a variety of international and cultural settings and will provide the department with a diverse approach to teaching.”  Bill Byrnes, Dean of the College of Performing and Visual Arts adds, “Mr. Marotta’s versatility in acting and directing makes him a very exciting asset to the Theatre Arts and Dance faculty.”

T. Anthony Marotta completed his Master of Fine Arts in Performance at the University of Tennessee, and has studied at the London International School of Performing Arts.  He has taught at the University of Tennessee and the Philadelphia Young Playwrights Festival. In addition to extensive film, television and stage work, Mr. Marotta is a certified stage combatant, and recipient of the 2005-2006 Emily Mahan Faust Fellowship.
