Maurice Wiberg, Art Educator, Presents at Art Insights

For Immediate Release: September 26, 2007

(Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah) The SUU Department of Art and Design will feature Maurice Wiberg in this week’s Art Insights, Thursday, October 4th at 7:00 p.m. in Thorley Recital Hall in the Music Building.  Wiberg will present “Art: Finding Answers/Solving Problems,” a lecture which illuminates his educational philosophy.

As a teacher at Mountain Crest High School Wiberg has encouraged the display of art in the halls including teaching students the art of mural painting, and allowing students to work together making positive graphic statements in the hallways.  He also applied and received a grant to put student work in the halls combined with other Utah artists.  Wiberg is a graduate from USU with BFA Degree in Painting and Drawing. He is a member of the Utah Watercolor Society and displays his art work in Cache Valley and other state sponsored Competitions.

Art Insights is a weekly program hosted during the Fall and Spring semesters by the Art and Design faculty.  In Art Insightsstudents and community members meet weekly to attend gallery openings and experience presentations and discussions by visiting artists and art educators from around the nation who share their work and insights.

Admission is free, and the general public is invited to attend.
