SUU Department of Music Halloween Concert
For Immediate Release: October 17, 2007
(Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah) The SUU Department of Music offers the second of the Masterworks Series with their Halloween Concert, Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. in the Sharwan Smith Center Ballroom on the SUU Campus.
Family, friends and phantoms are welcome to this evening of ghostly music and family fun. The SUU Music Department offers up an eerie spectrum of music, from “Graceful Ghost Rag” by the Pulitzer Prize winning composer William Bolcom to the hauntingly, ethereal music of “The Lord of the Rings” by De Meij. Alan Hovhaness’s foreboding and hypnotic “October Mountain”, Stephen McNeff ‘s absolutely thrilling “Ghosts” and Aaron Copland’s delicate and bold American classic, “Appalachian Spring” will also be presented.
This frightfully beautiful concert will feature the SUU Wind Symphony with special guest, Dan Frezza, the SUU Symphony Orchestra, and the Percussion Ensemble performing music inspired by and capturing the spirit of the Halloween season.
Ghoulish games, peculiar prizes and a crazy, creepy costume contest will be a part of this fearfully festive evening. All are welcome – with or without ghoulish gear!
Tickets are $8 for general admission, $6 for SUU Faculty and Staff, $4 for Students, and Free for SUU students with a valid I.D. For tickets please call (435)586-7878.
