(Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah) The SUU Department of Music will present Crazy for George: A Gershwin Portrait, as part of the Masterworks Series Friday-Saturday, November 9 -10 & 16-17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Thorley Recital Hall on the SUU campus.
The SUU Opera Workshop under the direction of Carol Ann Modesitt offers a musical evening inspired by the life and work of the great American master composer and musician, George Gershwin. Flashback to 1947, on the tenth anniversary Gershwin’s sudden and untimely death, to a live radio broadcast in the grand ballroom of the Roosevelt Hotel in the heart of Manhattan. Through laughter, fond memories and beautiful music, an ensemble of stars, including Ginger Rogers, Adele Astaire, Paulette Goddard and DuBose Heyward, pay loving, personal tribute to one of America’s most beloved composers.
