SUU Wind Symphony Invited to Perform at the Utah Music Educator Association Convention

For Immediate Release: January 21, 2008

(Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah)  The SUU Department of Music is proud to announce that the SUU Wind Symphony has been invited to perform at the Utah Music Educators Association convention in St. George on Saturday, February 2 at 12:30 pm. The concert will be held at the Dixie Center.

The SUU Wind Symphony will perform Rhapsody in Blue, Winter Dances (Fergal Carroll), A Hymn for the Lost and Living (Eric Ewazen), Seis Manuel (Shelley Hanson). SUU’s Assistant Professor of Music, Dr. Kirill Gliadkovsky, will be performing as a soloist with the ensemble.

Only a few groups are selected from the entire state of Utah to perform at the conference each year. The SUU Wind Symphony has been selected to represent college ensembles. This will be the first time an instrumental ensemble from SUU has performed at the convention in three decades.
