Cayetano Ferrer, Photography Representative, Presents at Art Insights
For Immediate Release: January 22, 2008
(Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah) The SUU Department of Art and Design will feature Cayetano Ferrer in this week’s Art Insights, Thursday, January 31th at 7:00 p.m. in the J.L. Sorenson P.E. Building, Room 101. Ferrer will present on his work, which uses photography to bridge the natural and industrial landscapes.
Using photographic prints on objects/architecture that reveal what these objects obscure, Ferrer exposes the relationship between the built and the rebuilt, exploring the delicate matter of history and memory as the present paves over the recent past. Ferrer is a graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he received his BFA in 2006. He has participated in exhibitions in Daejeon, Korea, at the Daejon Museum of Art; in London, England at i-cabin; in Chicago, IL at ThreeWalls; and in Oakland, CA at Lobot where he completed a residency in 2006.
Art Insights is a weekly program hosted during the Fall and Spring semesters by the Art and Design faculty. In Art Insightsstudents and community members meet weekly to attend gallery openings and experience presentations and discussions by visiting artists and art educators from around the nation who share their work and insights.
