Magical Musical Mystery Tour - from Mad to Mod
For Immediate Release: March 3, 2008
(Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah) The SUU Department of Music presents the Spring Choral Concert, “Magical Musical Mystery Tour - from Mad to Mod”, Wednesday, March 12th, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. at Thorley Recital Hall on the SUU campus.
Directed by Professor Grace St. Pierre, “Magical Musical Mystery Tour - from Mad to Mod”, features OPUS Chamber Choir, the SUU Concert Choir, and the SUU Chamber Orchestra performing an exciting and eclectic repertoire; a musical journey that will delight and inspire.
The SUU Chamber String Orchestra and Concert Choir will perform George Frederic Handel’s Coronation Anthem and the supremely sublime Sleep by America’s premier choral composer Eric Whitacre. Later in the evening, the Concert Choir will also perform PDQ Bach’s hilarious interpretation of the famous Come Live With Me and Be My Love from his Liebeslieder Polkas.
OPUS Chamber Choir will present pieces from their touring repertoire including Brahms’ gypsy songs Vier Zigeunerlieder, a section from Ravel’s only a cappella piece, Nicolette from Trois Chansons, Moses Hogan’s stirring I'm Gonna Sing 'til the Spirit Moves in My Heart, as well as more traditional English madrigals.
