Woody Shepherd, Painting Representative, Presents at Art Insights

For Immediate Release: April 2, 2008

(Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah)  The SUU Department of Art and Design will feature Woody Shepherd in this week’s Art Insights, Thursday, April 13th at 7:00 p.m. in the J.L. Sorenson P.E. Building, Room 101.  Shepherd will present “Landscape Paintings,” a lecture which illuminates his artistic philosophy and describes his colorful interpretations of landscapes.

Of his work, Shepherd states, “My paintings reflect my fascination with the beauty found in the interaction between perception, painting, and the natural environment.”  Shepherd obtained a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design (2003), with an emphasis in painting and drawing, and a MFA from Yale University (2005) in painting and printmaking. Since 2005, Shepherd has lived in Logan, Utah, where he is an assistant professor of painting and drawing at Utah State University.

Art Insights is a weekly program hosted during the Fall and Spring semesters by the Art and Design faculty.  In Art Insights students and community members meet weekly to attend gallery openings and experience presentations and discussions by visiting artists and art educators from around the nation who share their work and insights.

Admission is free, and the general public is invited to attend.
