SUU Music Department Presents the SUU Orchestra: Highlights of Classical Symphonies

(Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah) The SUU Music Department presents part of the Masterworks Series with the SUU Orchestra: Highlights of Classical Symphonies under the direction of Xun Sun, Tuesday, April 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Thorley Recital Hall on the SUU campus.
The SUU Orchestra will perform sections from classic symphonies by master composers, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Schubert, and Beethoven. One of Mendelssohn's early and most memorable works Overture to A Midsummer Night's Dream will open the evening. The SUU Orchestra will also present Mozart's well-known, Symphony No. 40 in G Minor and Schubert's cherished Unfinished Symphony: Symphony No. 8 in B minor. The evening of highlights would not be complete without Beethoven's powerful Symphony No. 5, in C minor.
With this concert, director Xun Sun hopes to deepen his students' relationship with work by the world's most important and influential composers while offering the audience an extraordinary evening of music filled with highlights from the most outstanding and well-known symphonies of all time.
