SUU Music Department Presents An Evening of Chamber Music

For Immediate Release: April 10, 2008

(Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah)  The SUU Music Department presents an evening of chamber music. The concert will offer music especially written for the chamber ensemble featuring the SUU OPUS Chamber Choir, and the SUU String, Brass, and Woodwind ensembles on Friday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. in Thorley Recital on the SUU Campus.

The OPUS Chamber Choir, under the direction of Dr. Grace St. Pierre, will join with the SUU String Ensemble, under the direction of Xun Sun, to present the J.S. Bach chamber masterpiece Cantata No. 4, Christ Lag in Todesbanden. The OPUS Chamber Choir will also perform Wedding Cantata by Daniel Pinkham and Trois Chansons by Maurice Ravel.

The SUU Brass Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Mark Stickney will present Mutations on Bach by Samuel Barber. The Woodwind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Virginia Stitt, will present pieces by Kuhlau, Muffat, and Arnold.
