SUU Music Department Presents the SUU Jazz Band performing a wide array of Jazz, Rock, and Latin Classics

For Immediate Release: April 14, 2008

(Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah)  The SUU Music Department presents the SUU Jazz Band under the direction of Joel Neves, Tuesday, April 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the Sharwan Smith Center Living Room on the SUU campus. Admission is free and the concert is open to the public.

The SUU Jazz Band presents a spectacular musical evening featuring an array of jazz, swing, funk, rock, fusion, and Latin classics. Highlights include Misty - a ballad featuring trombone soloist, Horn of Puente - a Latin piece featuring solo trumpet and tenor sax, and Gospel John - a rock piece made famous by Maynard Ferguson.

The eclectic evening of jazz also includes the Duke Ellington classic Stompy Jones, Morocco - a fusion work popularized by The Rippingtons, and Chicken Scratch a funk/jazz piece complete with chicken sounds.

The concert will take place in the open, relaxed setting of the Living Room in the Sharwan Smith Center on the SUU Campus. Admission is free and all are welcome!
