Photographer Youngsuk Suh Presents at Art Insights

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  October 29, 2007

(Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah)  The SUU Department of Art and Design will feature Youngsuk Suh in this week’s Art Insights, Thursday, November 8th at 7:00 p.m. in the J.L. Sorenson P.E. Building, Room 101.  Suh will present "Instant Traveler" his photographs of humans interacting with nature.

"Instant Traveler" investigates the human relationship with nature in the national parks and popular tourist destinations of the United States. Of his work Suh states, “Traveling to these parks embodies the irreconcilable dualism of our desire to experience and at the same time to be protected from nature. The photographs in this project are some of my observations of this complex relationship.” Currently teaching at UC Davis as Assistant Professor of Photography, Suh holds an MFA in Studio Art from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and a BFA in Photography from the Pratt Institute.

Art Insights is a weekly program hosted during the Fall and Spring semesters by the Art and Design faculty.  In Art Insights students and community members meet weekly to attend gallery openings and experience presentations and discussions by visiting artists and art educators from around the nation who share their work and insights.

Admission is free, and the general public is invited to attend.
