The annual Southern Utah Science and Engineering Fair is open to science projects from students in grades 5-8. Projects can be performed by a single student or a team of up to three students. Projects with teams of students will be judged versus those of other team projects.
This year's event: Friday, March 27, 2009.
Application deadline: February 13, 2009.
Application fee: $12.00 per student.
May 19, 2009 Trevor Boardman, one of the SUSEF's four ISEF finalists, took home a fourth place ribbon and $500 at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Reno, NV, May 15. Congratulations to all our finalists!
April 14, 2009 Winners' Lists have been updated for the 2009 fair. Photos have also been added, so be sure to check those out as well! We had 124 Senior Fair projects and 162 Junior Fair projects at the Southern Utah Science and Engineering Fair this year, for a grand total of 286. Thank you to everyone who participated: students, teachers, parents, judges, and volunteers.
February 25, 2009 Just over one month till the big day…the 2009 schedule and maps are now available.
Theme Contest:
Design the theme for the 2010 SUSEF. Anyone is eligible: teachers, students, or judges. The theme should be a short, upbeat, catchy sentence or phrase with a clear relationship to science or engineering. (Past themes include: “Go for the Au,” and “The Greatest Science on Earth.”) A black and white sketch may be submitted with the theme.
Entries must be submitted no later than noon on March 27. Prior to the fair, entries may be e-mailed to the fair director (bronsema@suu.edu). Entries submitted on March 27 must be deposited in the boxes located at the Senior Fair Coordinator’s table (Centrum floor) or Junior Fair Coordinator’s table (Multipurpose Center). Entries will be judged and the winner, if there is one, will be announced at the Awards Ceremony.
Prize: Apple IPod Nano, and your theme displayed on fair promotional materials, including brochures, letterhead, and possibly t-shirts in 2010!
Judge Training:
All Senior and Junior Fair judges are invited to attend a short training session on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at 6 pm in the SUU Science Center. Senior Fair judges will meet in SC 114 and Junior Fair judges will meet in SC 016.
