Admission/Application

SUU School of Nursing admission is competitive and based on review of all application materials.  To be eligible for Nursing Admission students must have:

  1. Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher (cumulative).**
  2. "Required Support Courses" GPA of 3.0 or higher.  These classes also require a grade of "C" or better (a C- grade is not acceptable).
  3. Completion of the Degree Requirements including General Education Core and Required Support Courses or a maximum of 18 pre-requisite credits left to complete (acceptance will be contingent on the successful completion of any remaining course requirements by August 7, 2009).
  4. Acceptance to Southern Utah University.

** As admission is competitive, the GPA for admissions is usually significantly higher than the minimum 3.0 required.

Once the above criteria has been met, you may submit the following information to the Department of Nursing’s Admissions Secretary:

  1. A complete set of all transcripts for all colleges/universities attended (unofficial/photocopy accepted).
  2. Completed "Application to the Department of Nursing" packet.
  3. Signed copy of "Nursing Department Advisement Sheet" (signed by both student and SUU Advisor).
  4. $20.00 nursing application processing fee (Check or Money order made payable to SUU Nursing).

Pre-Licensure applications need to be submitted to the Department of Nursing ON or BEFORE noon September 11, 2009, to be considered for the Spring 2010 semester (Applications postmarked/received after this deadline will NOT be considered for admission to the program).   Applicants are notified of the committees decision by mail in October.

RN to BSN applications need to be submitted to the Department of Nursing ON or BEFORE February 19, 2010, to be considered for the May 2010 position.  (Applications postmarked/received after this deadline will NOT be considered for admission to the program).  Applicants are notified of the committees decision by mail in March.
