Importing an E00 interchange file:
Once the e00 interchange file(s) have been downloaded you need to import the coverage in order to recreate the correct file structure.
There are numerous methods for importing an ESRI coverage, depending on your software choice. The three ESRI software package options are; ArcView, ArcInfo or ArcGIS Desktop. Each software package has a slightly different method and allows for various options, yet the end results are basically identical.
The following portion of this exercise is repeated with three different variations; 1) ArcView 3.x import, 2) ArcGIS/ArcToolBox import, and 3) Arc/Info command line import.
You can choose which method you prefer or experiment with each method. Your available GIS software could determine which method you choose. It is recommended that you try each method to familiarize yourself with the various options that are available.
Be careful with the file naming convention if you try each option. (See above for file naming convention hints)
