The internet has been proven to be one of the greatest resources for finding GIS data.  The following are a few sites to access GIS data:

            The above list is just a brief sample of what is available.  Be sure to keep a bookmark of your favorite GIS data sites.  You might want to organize them by state and then by data type.  It is not the point of this exercise to spend more time with the general internet topic.  In the next section we will use the internet to find GIS data in Utah.
