(LaSal Mt. Physiographic Subdivision in San Juan County, Utah)

Note:  The next part of this exercise assumes some familiarity with ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcToolBox and a few operating systems processes like creating directories and moving files around.  You should have also completed the 'Acquiring GIS Data: Utah' exercise.

Use the SGID User’s Guide ( http://agrc.utah.gov/agrc_sgid/sgiddata/sgid_user_guide.pdf ) to find the physiographic subdivision file name and the appropriate download directory.   When the SGID User’s Guide PDF file is open use the find tool (binoculars) and look for the word ‘physiographic’ (do not add the single quotes). The results should show you that the file name is GLPHY and the directory to find this file in is ST500.

Navigate to the AGRC SGID FTP site ( ftp://ftp.agrc.state.ut.us/sgid/ ) and then choose the ST500 directory.  You will find the file glphy.e00 in this directory.  Right click on the glphy.e00 file and choose the ‘Copy to Folder …’ option.

Use the 'agrc_data' directory, you previously created, for the save location.
