Selecting the Right Quadrangles:

(For an ArcView 3.x option)

 

In ArcMap, right click on the glphy layer, choose ‘Selection’ then choose ‘Zoom to Selected Features’. 

 

Right click on the index 24k layer and choose ‘Properties…’, in the properties dialogue box choose the ‘Labels’ tab and change the label field to ID and then check the ‘Label Features in this Layer’ box. (Make sure you choose the ‘OK’ button or the changes will not take effect.)

From the Selection pull down menu choose ‘Select by location …’ from the dialogue box setup select features from the index_24k polygon layer that intersects the selected features of the glphy polygon layer.

If your dialogue setup is OK choose the Apply button.

Open the attribute table for index_24k layer, choose the selected records button and sort the ID by ascending value.  You should see 9 records selected, the following are the AGRC quad grid ID’s: (You might need to adjust the slide bar to see the fields)

From this list we now know exactly which 24k quadrangles we need to download (see above) and which SGID directory to find them in (QD024). 

 

We are going to download all the interchange files (E00) that are available for each of these quadrangles.
