AGRC SGID GIS data file naming convention:

 

From the following location, ( ftp://ftp.agrc.state.ut.us/sgid/

double click on the st500 directory.   You should see the following files:

The above files are all the files that are available for downloading at a 1:500k scale with statewide coverage.  If you have not noticed already, some of the file names are fairly cryptic and without a little deciphering could be difficult to figure out.  The following list shows the first two characters in the name, which will help at least put them into categories. 

 

 AO   Administrative    HD  Hydrology
 CF  Cultural feature    LC   Land cover
 CL  Climate    PL  Political
 DA   Demographic    RS   Reference system
 EN   Environmental    TR   Transportation
 GF    Geographic feature     UT  Utilities
