Download files:

NOTE:  Create a working directory called agrc_data in your workspace if you have not done so already.

Depending on the scale that is needed for our project we can choose to download the appropriate Administration/Ownership County Boundary (AOCBO).  At this point, once you have found the hyperlink text in the SGID User’s Guide, you have several choices to make; (make sure you are in the SGID User’s Guide, clicked on Layers by category).

The file we are interested in is the Statewide 24k county boundaries.

Option 1) Based on your browser settings and/or Adobe acrobat; you can right click the AOCBO file and choose to save the E00 file to a folder.

(Not a recommended method, too fickle)

Option 2) Left click the blue AOCBO name, you will see the ‘guts’ of the export E00 file, you can then select the complete text and save it as aocbo.e00

(Not a recommended method, too much human errors)

Option 3) Notice the SGID directory (ST024) location and file name (AOCBO), then return to the SGID ftp directory ( ftp://ftp.agrc.state.ut.us/sgid/ ) and download the file from there.  (Recommended method)

For this exercise we’ll use the recommended 3rd option.  The file we want is the state wide 1:24k scale (ST024) Administrative and Ownership County Boundary (AOCBO) file. The directory we need is the ST024 and the file in that directory is AOCBO.  Return to the AGRC FTP link download section on the AGRC web site ( ftp.agrc.state.ut.us )' then choose the sgid directory.

The next directory we need is the st024 and the file we are looking for is aocbo.e00.  If you double click on the file you get the ‘guts’ again, so we want to right click and choose ‘copy to folder’.  In the browse to folder dialog box navigate to your workspace and then choose OK to save the file.
