SUU - Rocky Mountain Power Challenge Course
Our Mission:
To provide outdoor learning experiences that will challenge individuals & groups to exceed their preceived boundaries as well as serve as a catalyst for personal growth and change..
|
What
the Challenge Course Offers
- Goal setting. - Starting with
simple, obtainable goals helps the participants understandthe
goal setting process.
- Teach encouragement and support of
others. By verbally agreeing to the Full Value Contract,
each participant agrees to not make condescending remarks and
keep sarcasm to a minimum.
- Solve problems individually and as
a group. Certain activities are used to create artificial
stresses and challenges to help participants enhance their
self perception, communication and problem solving abilities.
- Deal with success and failure. We
can all learn from our mistakes. Participants will have the opportunity
to experience success and failure with a facilitator processing
the benefits of both.
- Apply what you're learning to everyday
life. Trained facilitators will make participants aware
of "thinking outside the box" and learning to utilize the knowledge
gained on the challenge course to their everyday life.
- Feel challenged beyond your normal
comfort zone. Participants are encouraged to challenge
themselves further than they think they can go.With the support
of their teammates they will discover they can accomplish more
than they thought they could.
- Enhance communication skills. All
of the activities on the challenge course require communication
among the participants. However; the facilitators may alter communication
to help participants become aware of their own as well as their
teammates specific way of communicating.
- Build trust within your group. Would
you trust a colleague to lead you on a path while blindfolded?
Trust is vitally important to the success of a group. In group
settings trust isn't always acknowledged until it is broken.
On the challenge course trust will be utilized and recognized.
- Have Fun. All work and no play
can lower a persons motivation. Often groups will get stuck
in a routine and can use some extra stimulation to gain unity
and creativity. After all; a group of people who play together
stays together.
