Frequently Asked Questions about the Challenge Course
Who can benefit from using the challenge course?
Anyone. Families, departments, roommates, clubs, athletic teams, church groups, friends, local businesses. Any group of people who want to have a fun common experience and work together to solve challenges will benefit from the challenge course.
Do I have to be an athlete to do the challenge Course?
No. Many of the elements are designed for team building and cooperation and can be done by all skill levels.
Can you get hurt on the Challenge Course?
Yes. It is important to listen to the facilitators as they discuss safety concerns on the course. Although elements of the course may seem dangerous, they are safer than driving, in general. While there is an atmosphere of fun, safety comes first, "if it's not safe, it's not done". All participants must wear a helmet when climbing on the wall.
How many people can be in a group?
A minimum of 8 participants is required to participate on the Challenge Course and there can be a maximum of 15 participants in one group. We will split larger groups into more manageable sizes.
What age groups can do the challenge course?
Anyone 8 years old and older can participate in the challenge course. One adult chaperone for youth groups under 18 years old is required.
Why did SUU build a challenge Course?
Studies show that students who bond with their advisors, professors and other students are less likely to leave after their first year of college. The course was build to increase retention at the university.
