JUST A FEW GREAT COURSES
72 Hour Kit for Marriage
This class is sponsored through the Utah Governor’s Commission
on Marriage and teaches effective strategies for couples to identify
and avoid the most common and destructive patterns in relationships.
This class also teaches the skills required to promote healthy communication
and commitment. This class is also highly effective for single parents
to deal with each other and their children.
Vietnam, In Retrospect
This class presents an overview of the events, objectives and processes
of a complex war that continues to haunt Americans. The course will
address the events, objectives and processes of the war with a participant’s
view into the “secret” campaigns, to end the war through
technical innovation and intrigue. Learn the impact of “Rolling
Thunder,” “Air American (CIA), “Steel Tiger” and “Pave
Nail,” and why the Vietnam experience still influences American
politics three decades later. Follow the war from the French Capitulation
to the Gulf of Tonkin, expansions of the war into Laos and Cambodia,
and the eventual evacuation of American Forces.
Couples Massage
8 hour course taught in 2 class sessions. Covers the basic massage
sequence and includes an instructional booklet and lotion.
Infant Massage
A 1 hour workshop to promote baby/parent bonding, infant health, weight
gain and growth. Infant massage is essential for babies born via
c-section.
Jewelry Fabrication
Discover the principles and practices of jewelry manufacturing. Design
and construction of functional objects will be emphasized through
tool use, vacuum casting, silversmithing and gem cutting. Both beginners
and advanced techniques will be taught. TE 4920-30 will place special
emphasis on advanced techniques.

Quickbooks Pro 2004
Learn how to use fast & easy tools to save time, organize your
information in one place, and manage business finances with confidence.
For example: set up your company fast with the EasyStep, use the easy,
forms-based interface & Quickfill, print checks, pay bills and
track expenses, invoice customers, track payments and sales tax, track
the information you will need for your taxes, backup your data, set
up alerts and reminders, use the easy “Find” feature to
locate transactions, e-mail forms & reports (and save as PDF’s),
print packing slips, labels and use the “Shipping Manager”,
export QuickBooks reports & import data from Microsoft Excel, produce
professional-looking forms, learn the various options for customizing & printing
reports, customize prices with up to 100 price levels, reconcile & “undo” a
previous reconcile, manage all your loans in Quickbooks, track mileage
and & fixed assets, audit trail & transaction “history” and
put together a cash flow projector.
DANCE
International Folk Dance
Enjoy circle, line, trio, partner and group dances from Greece, Serbia,
Japan, Israel, Turkey, Europe, etc. No partner or experience is necessary.
Will mix fast, energetic dances with the slow social dances so teenagers
and up can participate. Many of these dances originated in rural areas
to celebrate planting crops, harvests, weddings, carnivals, and other
fun events. Festivals all over the world often feature these dances
in their entertainment. Ages 8 and up.
Adult Ballet "Workout"
Stretching and toning exercises inside the beautiful form of ballet.
Perfect for grownups just starting a workout program, or dancers
of any level wanting to work on slow technique and strengthening
exercises. One or two days available with one or two prices.
Children's Pre-Ballet, Ages 3-5yrs.
FUN Ballet Basics and lots of creative movement and rhythms. Performance
in summer recital and winter full length ballet optional. (costuming
fee applies.)
Children's Ballet 1, Ages 6 - 9yrs.
FUN Basic Beginning Ballet Technique and creative movement. Performance
in summer recital and winter full length ballet optional. (costuming
fee applies.)
Children's Ballet 2, Ages 8 - 12yrs.
FUN Intermediate ballet and Pre-Pointe work. Performance in summer
recital and winter full length ballet optional. (costuming fee applies.)

EMERGENCY MEDICAL
CPR: Health Care Provider
The basic life support healthcare provider class is designed by the
American Heart Association for healthcare professionals. The course
teaches the skills of CPR for all ages (including ventilation with
barrier device, bag-mask device, and oxygen), use of AED and foreign
body airway obstruction. American Heart Association certification card
is provided to those who successfully complete written exam and skill
test. Books will be available. You need to know that when you sign
up there is "no refund" after the signup date or if you do
not attend the class. However, since a minimum of 6 are needed for
the class, we ask for registrations a week prior to keep the class
from being cancelled.
CPR: Heart Saver Combo
Statistics show that early initiation of CPR by bystanders, when coupled
with a quick ambulance response, will dramatically improve the chances
of patient survival. This course is taught by a certified basic life
support instructor who covers child, infant, and adult CPR. Certified
by the American Heart Association. Books will be available. You need
to know that when you sign up there is "no refund" after
the signup date or if you do not attend the class. However, since
a minimum of 6 are needed for the class, we ask for registrations
a week prior to keep the class from being cancelled.
Intermediate EMT
Students need to have had a basic certification for 1 year before enrolling
in this class. Advance your knowledge, skills and gain additional
experience as you become Level II certified. 3 semester credits hours
are optional for $90.
If you are currently an Immediate EMT and are interested in becoming
an Advanced EMT, you may pay $125 and attend a refresher course and
move directly to the advanced course being sponsored and taught by
Iron County Ambulance. The refresher course will be taught at the same
time as the Intermediate class this summer.

Prenatal Care Class
Various Topics will be discussed during this 8 week course including
preparation for labor and birth, birth plans, Lamaza, Bradley, hypno-birthing,
prenatal nutrition and exercise, breast feeding, infant massage and
baby proofing.
FITNESS
Adult Modern Movement "Workout"
Stretching and toning exercises inside the free form of Modern
Dance. Perfect for grownups just starting a workout program, or dancers

Creating Healthy Energy
Energy exchanges occur constantly in our lives. Do you radiate loving,
peaceful energy? Learn and practice ways to create healthy energy
patterns that may expand your sense of peace and tranquility.
Pilates
10 classes focus on developing core strength through the fundamentals
of Pilates.
Releasing Stressful Habits
Stress can occur from a variety of sources. . .family conflicts, work
related situations and even joyful events in our lives can create
an atmosphere of stress. Worry, fear and anxiety are some of the
symptoms of being overwhelmed with stress. Learn healthy ways to
release stressful habits while practicing effective mediation and
yoga techniques involving energizing exercises, breath work, yoga
postures, journaling and more! Wear comfortable, layered clothing.
Bring water, a friend and an open mind to experience a tranquil journey
of self discovery and awareness. Journal and yoga/mediation tools
provided.
Tai Chi
12 classes develop the fundamentals of Tai Chi through specific movements,
patterns and flow.
Yoga for Kids
8 week program dedicated to teaching children the fundamentals of yoga
and movement patterns.
Yoga--Power Lunch
10 classes provide the beginner or novice Yogi an opportunity to enhance
the lunch hour with yoga, breathing, relaxation and stress management.
Yoga--Prenatal
Gentle Yoga movements for pregnant moms. 10 classes focus on stretching
and breathing patterns that will also be useful during labor.
Yoga
12 classes focus on developing the fundamentals of yoga through specific
movement patterns.
KARATE
Kenpo Karate
Learn balance and coordination while building confidence and physical
stamina. Basic and advanced Kenpo self-defense techniques will be studied
and practiced. Ages 13 up to 80.
Wing Chun Kung Fu
Learn self-defense through one of the most popular forms of the martial
arts. This style of fighting was popularized by the late Bruce Lee
and is a great way to get and stay in shape. In addition to strengthening
your muscles, Kung-fu teaches you balance and makes your mind and
body respond as one. This is a self-defense oriented and physically
demanding course.
LANGUAGE
Basic Spanish (One Month, Twice a Week)
To help travelers, students and anyone who needs basic communication
skills for working with anyone who is Spanish speaking. There will
be speaking, writing, practicing, discussing, singing and much more.
MUSIC
Guitar Boot Camp - Three Week Intense
Guitar Training for the Beginning to Intermediate Student.
Rock/Blues/Country songs will be taught in the context of learning
how to master your guitar, not just play it. Basic guitar theory will
help the student not just know a few chords and a couple of songs but
hundreds and hundreds of chords and dozens and dozens of songs. No
textbook required, just a guitar and a desire to play and study hard

STIT
Vehicle Safety Inspection Certification (and
Recertification)
Class is offered for technicians in the automotive repair industry
who desire to do vehicle safety inspections. Upon completion of the
course and with a passing grade on the exams, you will be approved
to apply for a Utah Highway Patrol vehicle safety inspection certificate.
This certification is required in order to do the annual vehicle safety
inspections. This is an official UHP training course. |
