Frequently Asked Questions:
For other questions please contact the IMIC by email or call us at (435) 586-1994.
  1. When I go to the WebCT home page, it doesn’t load right and I can’t Log in.
  2. I can see the WebCT homepage, but I cannot seem to Log in, nothing happens.
    • If you are using Internet Explorer and this is happening, it is recommended that you use another Web browser. Optional free web browsers:
    • Netscape
    • Firefox
    • Opera
    • Safari (Mac Only)

  3. When I Log in, I get a prompt that tells me my username or password is invalid.
    • Click on the link-"Find your username." If your username and password have not changed, be sure that you are entering your username in a "lowercase" format and that you are not using spaces or dashes in your password.-Remember the WebCT Log in is "case sensitive."
    • If you have recently registered for the course, your access will be made available 24 hours after you have been entered into the Student Information System by the Registrar's office. We recommend that you contact the Registrar's office to find out the status of your application.
    • If you have had access recently, it maybe that your access to your courses have ended for the semester. It is recommended that you contact your instructor.

  4. What browsers are compatible with WebCT?
    • Netscapse 7.0 or higher
    • Internet Explorer 5.5 SP 2, Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher
    • AOL 7.0 or 8.0. Users using other versions of AOL may connect to the internet using AOL, but then must run a separate browser (Netscape or IE)

  5. When using Internet Explorer, I get a Runtime Error when I log into WebCT.
    • By default, Internet Explorer is set to offer the option to debug scripts that may contain errors. This may cause you to see a runtime error box when you try to Log in to WebCT.
    • To fix this problem, open Internet Explorer and follow these steps:
    • Select Tools.
    • Click on Internet Options.
    • Select the Advanced tab Check
    • Disable script debugging
    • Click Apply
    • Click OK to finish.

  6. How do students access their internet courses?
    • Instructions that explain the login process for students can be found here.

  7. What is my username and password? (for students)
    • You can find your account information here.
    • If you are a student at SUU, your username is the same as the one you use to login to the campus computers.  Otherwise, it is usually your first and last name together all in lowercase. For example, Tom Smith becomes tomsmith. Your default password should be your birthdate in MMDDYY. If it is not, you can change it here.
    • If you still are unable to login, contact the IMIC for assistance.

  8. Why do some or all of my courses not show up when I log into WebCT?
    • Have you registered recently? It will take the system 24 hours from the time you are registered to update your information into the system. Information is updated from the Registrar’s Office every morning.
    • Check with the Registrar. If you are in their records, your WebCT account should be activated the next day.
    • Occasionally, students are not correctly added to the WebCT system. In this case, we need your Student ID Number and what courses you are registered for. We will give this information to our Network Administrator and he will manually enter you into the system. We will notify you when he does.

  9. I am taking a Breeze section. What is it and how do I access it?
    • Breeze courses are "real-time" internet courses where you and your instructor meet in a virtual classroom. The only difference between this type of section and a face-to-face section is the locations of you, your instructor and classmates. As a student there are computer requirements and periphrials needed to even attend. Such as a DSL or Broadband internet connection (+150kpbs minimum dedicated line), webcam, audio headset, and microphone. In some cases a seperate phone line may be needed to eliminate audio lag time. Read our Breeze System Requirements info (for PC, Mac) or contact the IMIC HelpDesk for more details.
    • Breeze sections are accessed via WebCT. You will have a WebCT course account where you will be able to have a hyperlink to the live internet meeting and a repository of out of class information and documentation, means of communication with the instructor out-side of class.
