Teach English in Japan!  Teachers needed for full-time, short-term or long-term internships in public schools all across Japan.  These ALTs (Assistant Language Teachers) help the native Japanese speaking teacher teach English in public schools.

Salary and Benefits:
- Round-trip airfare
- Housing (furnished apartment with internet connection)
- Short-term internship subsidy of 70,000 yen/month (about $750)
- Long-term internship subsidy of 90,000 yen/month (about $950)

Internship Dates (May vary slightly from year-to-year):
Short-term and longer term internships are available
1) May 5-July 31, 2009
2) August 25-December 23, 2009
3) January 3-March 31, 2010

Majors Requested for Internship:
All majors are accepted.  Preference is given to Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL, TESL, ESL, etc.), Education, Linguistics and Humanities.

Qualifications:
Enrolled in an undergraduate bachelors degree course at an acredited four-year institution. Any non-native English speakers must have at least 12 years of English-based schooling.  Applicants must have a genuine interest in living and adapting to a foreign culture and like working with children. 

Description of Internship Responsibilities:
- Teach English in a public elementary, junior and/or senior high school in Japan as an ALT (Assistant Language Teacher) for up to 40 hours/week (approx. 20 teaching hours)
- Assist the certified, native-Japanese speaking English teacher with lesson plans, activities, material development, and classroom management
- Teach up to six 50-minute periods per day, Monday-Friday (average is 4 periods/day)
- Adequately complete all assignments and maintain a program portfolio
- Participants must complete the full term of their internship
