National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant (SMART Grant)

The National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent (SMART) Grant was recently approved by congressional legislation to provide financial support for students in higher education and particularly to promote study in math and sciences.

National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent (SMART) Grant
3rd year students (60-89.5 credits) $4,000
4th year students (90-120 credits) $4,000

  • Admitted to SUU four year degree program
  • Must have at least minimum Pell grant eligibility
  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Be enrolled full-time at SUU
  • Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 each semester
  • Completed at least 60 credits for 3rd year grant and 90 credits for 4th year grant
  • Must be enrolled in courses leading to declared major
  • Majoring in one of the following fields of study:
    • Biological Engineering
    • Biology
    • Biology/Botany
    • Biology/Forensic
    • Biology/Zoology
    • CAD/CAM Technology
    • Chemical Engineering
    • Chemistry
    • Chemistry/Health Care
    • Chemistry/Professional
    • Civil Design
    • Civil Engineering
    • Computer Engineering
    • Computer Science
    • Design Technology
    • Earth Systems
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Engineering Technology
    • Environmental Engineering
    • Environmental Science
    • Forest Sciences/Biology
    • Geology
    • Information Systems
    • Integrated Engineering
    • IS-Networking/Telecomm
    • IS-User Support Services
    • Materials Science Engineering
    • Mathematical Science
    • Mechanical Engineering

    **Please note that enrollment must be confirmed each term prior to disbursement.  Funds will not be available until all criteria are met and validated by the academic advisor and the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.**
