All lots across campus have designated parking according to the signs posted at each lot. Only University Housing residents may purchase decals that grant permission to park in the lots surrounding residence halls. While this decal is limited to lots with “Residence Life” designation, an additional student parking permit may be purchased for privilege to park in “Student” designated lots throughout campus. Resident and student decals are $12 each. Motorcycle, scooter and mo-ped decals are $6 each. Apply for a parking permit online prior to your arrival on campus. Visit www.suu.edu/parking to learn how.
Public, covered and uncovered, bicycle storage and racks are provided around campus for your convenience. Bikes are required to have a permit to park on campus. Permits are free after completing an online registration form available at www.suu.edu/parking. Bicycles are not permitted inside the residence halls for any reason in order to maintain high quality and clean facilities as well as prevent confusion and harm in the event of an emergency evacuation.
SUU Mail Services offers mail boxes, USPS, UPS & FedEx services. Students may register for a box during regular business hours. Boxes are located in the lobby of the Eccles Living Learning Center, Bldg. A and the Sharwan Smith Student Center. Mail is delivered daily, with exception of weekends and holidays. Laundry rooms with low-cost, coin and/or T-card operated washers and dryers are located in each residence hall. Don’t forget to put T-Bird Bucks on your T-card at the Cashier’s office.
All residents have access to a high speed internet connection in their residence hall and can establish a network connection upon checking in.
Each apartment and room is fully furnished. Packing checklists for each building are online that detail the furnishings associated with your room assignment as well as a list of items we recommend you bring. Residents may not bring personal furniture into their apartment or residence hall room without written authorization of the Director of University Housing.
The following list specifies items that are not permitted in the residence halls under any circumstances. This list is not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Any item deemed to be a safety or security concern may be confiscated or be required to be removed immediately.
Refrigerators are provided in each residence hall room or apartment, except Cedar Hall. Cedar Hall residents may furnish one refrigerator per room. We advise coordinating with roommates to prevent duplication. Refrigerators may not exceed 2 cubic feet in capacity. Additional refrigerators in other residence halls are prohibited. Should you require special accommodation for a documented health reason, please contact the Director of University Housing. University Housing reserves the right to approve or disapprove any resident supplied appliance.
Given the community’s academic nature, University Housing does not allow overnight guests during the first two and last two weeks of fall and spring semesters as well as the move-in days preceding each semester. Parents, family members and friends accompanying residents during check-in should reserve accommodations at local hotels as necessary. The visitation and guest policy for all other times can be found in the Resident Handbook.
Thunderbird Circle Dining Hall will be open during check-in days and accepts cash, T-Bird Bucks and major credit cards from students, faculty, staff and visitors. For individuals enrolled in a meal plan, the first eligible meal is breakfast on Thursday, August 23, 2012. Dining dollars will also be available then.
University Housing offers an unrivaled number of amenities to its residents. While the listed amenities are cost-free, some require reservations. (Information about each amenity is published in the online Resident Handbook.) Amenities include:
