Why I work with students: I work with students because I believe that college is one of the greatest periods you will experience in life, and there is no better place to help shape our future. I also knew that when I graduated from UCF, something was missing. I felt like I belonged on campus even though I knew that I couldn't be a student forever. Working with students gives me the opportunity to be a lifelong learner while still growing as a professional!
Why I think Orientation is important: I believe Orientation is paramount to the student experience! Students often come to Orientation expecting all of their questions to be answered, but I believe Orientation is about finding new questions that you didn't even realize you had, and some new friends in the process!
My biggest piece of advice for new students: The biggest advice I have for new students is not to worry! Of course, this is easier said than done. Make a list of all the questions and concerns you have before attending Orientation, and then put them away. Allow yourself to just be open to the new experience. The answers you need will come, or are only an email away. However, the friends and memories you make won't be so easily obtained if you are clouded with worry. Just imagine Orientation as the sun; bask in it!
