About the Americorp Contract:

Service contracts may be:

• 300 hours, $1,000 award, September 1, 2002-August 31, 2003 to complete service
• 450 hours, $1,250 award, September 1, 2002-August 31, 2003 to complete service
• 900 hours, $2,363 award, September 1, 2002-August 31, 2004 to complete service

About the Service:

• Volunteer service can include unpaid internships, student teaching, practicums, volunteer work you do on your own, and in some cases class time and preparation time
• Volunteer service must be done at government or non-profit agencies
• Volunteer service cannot include partisan political service and some other types of political service, religious proselyting, or service done for for-profit organization        
• You’ll be required to submit a monthly time card of volunteer hours to the Service & Learning Center

About the Award:

The award is granted in the form of a voucher that you receive two to four weeks after the completion of your contracted hours

The voucher may be signed over to SUU (or any other accredited higher education institution), any money owed to SUU will be deducted and then you will receive a check from the University for any balance

            OR

Signed over as payment toward an existing student loan

            OR

Saved for up to seven years for future use

 What To Do if You’re Interested:

In order to participate you must attend one of the following orientation sessions. The sessions will last approximately one hour. At the conclusion of the session you will fill out the enrollment paperwork to participate.

      Orientation Sessions–Held in Bryce Canyon Conference Room

            Thursday, October 24 at 6 p.m.

            Tuesday, October 29 at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
