The Sharwan Smith Center offers a variety of facilities for activities including, but not limited to, business meetings, conferences, banquets, reunions, lectures, and dances. The Center facilities are available to both University and non-University groups and to individuals in accordance with specific user charges and the following guidelines. Special requests will be reviewed on an individual basis by the Director of Activities and the Smith Center Scheduling Committee.
The Sharwan Smith Center is a general use area. As such, it cannot be scheduled in an on-going basis for classroom use or instruction. Reservations can be made for the Sharwan Smith Center in the Centralized Scheduling Office, room SSC 201B, or by calling 435-865-8209.
When scheduling a room, or a table in the Sharwan Smith Center; the requestor must be recognized as a department/organization on the SUU campus. The activity being scheduled must be directly associated with the sponsoring department. Otherwise, applicable fees may be assessed.
A part of the Center's unique programmability is the Convention Center. Convention arrangements can be made through Lauri Lamb in Centralized Scheduling at 435-865-8209
Scheduling Priorities
The scheduling priorities for the Sharwan Smith Center areas will generally be:

1st priority, year roundFirst priority for student groups include SUUSA (Southern Utah University Student Association), STAB (Student Activities Board of the Associated Students) and the office of the Sharwan Smith Center.
Space Guarantee
The Sharwan Smith Center Office reserves the right to move any group from a scheduled area if it is deemed necessary to accommodate other groups more efficiently, or it is deemed necessary for cost considerations. The group involved in the move will be notified prior to the event, if possible, and appropriate directional signs will be provided.
Appeal Process
Scheduling requests denied due to current building/university policy may be appealed to the Sharwan Smith Center Advisory Board within three (3) working days by calling 435-865-8209.
