November Web Page – Diabetes

November is American Diabetes Month

Diabetes is a disease in which levels of blood glucose, also called blood sugar, are above normal. People with diabetes have problems converting food to energy. Over the years, high blood sugar damages nerves and blood vessels. This can lead to complications such as heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, blindness, nerve problems, gum infections, and amputation.

You can help decrease your risk of diabetes by eating a healthy diet, not being overweight and exercising most days of the week.

If you are concerned about diabetes call the SUU Student Health Clinic for an appointment (435) 586-7718, or talk to your health care provider.
